Fender Rhodes Piano Transportation Tips

Moving a Rhodes piano is not easy, but it can be easier if you do it right. Here are some tips that will save you time, and protect your Rhodes, car, and body.

1. Protect your piano and your car

Place a thick blanket in the car. You can get mover’s blankets in your local hardware store, these are the best. Slide the piano on top of the blanket. Position the piano in the car in its playing position.

2. Got everything?

Be sure to include everything related to your Rhodes piano. For Stage models, make sure you bring your pedal, pedal rod, legs, crossbars, and crossbars knob. For the Suitcase models, bring your amp and cables. If you have any spare parts, make sure to bring them too.

3. Don’t break your back

It’s a two-person job so get someone to help you move your Rhodes into the car. Once you get to our workshop, we’ll help you carry it from the car. The legs and pedal of Rhodes Stage models add weight. It may be easier to pack and carry them separately.

4. No Car?

You can use Uber/Lyft if your Rhodes doesn’t fit into your car. Most Rhodes pianos and amps fit in hatchback cars like the Toyota Prius. For long-distance transportation, consider using affordable specialty movers like uship.com and shiply.com.

Nir is the sweetest and he knows absolutely everything about Rhodes EPs. At drop off he was able to spot within minutes everything that was wrong and had be poorly fixed on my piano, and then it only took him 1 week to literally bring it back to factory specs. Not to mention that at pick up he took 1h to explain in details how I should maintain it so I could take care of fine adjustments and tuning myself.
